Matt Payne went back-to-back with his second pole position of the weekend in Sundya’s Boost Mobile Top 10 Shootout for Race 34 of the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.
It also marked the ninth pole position of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship for the Penrite Racing frontrunner.
Fellow title contender Anton De Pasquale of Team 18 was second fastest, while Cooper Murray was a superb third for PremiAir Racing. Shell V-Power Racing Team charge Brodie Kostecki was fourth and Bathurst polesitter Zach Bates fifth.
Broc Feeney of Red Bull Ampol Racing posted the sixth fastest time.
Three Finals contenders missed the Boost Mobile Top 10 Shootout – Cam Waters, Will Brown and Chaz Mostert – and have a mountain to climb in this afternoon’s critical 250km race. Just three Finals spots remain after Kostecki booked his place for a tilt at the championship at the bp Adelaide Grand Final following his win in Race 33 yesterday.
