Cassidy wins Super Formula race at Sugo

Nick Cassidy has won the latest round of the 2020 Super Formula Series held at Sportsland, Sugo, in Japan.

The Kiwi driver started from fourth place on the grid and was always in contention staying in touch with the leaders.

Fastest qualifier Sette Camara crashed out of the race just before the halfway mark bringing out the safety car.

Cassidy moved up to third behind Super GT Series team mate Ryo Hirakawa and rival Naoki Yamamoto.

Cassidy was able to pass both, taking over the lead on lap 30 and holding on for the win on lap 53.

Th round at Sugo was the third of seven. The fourth will take place 14-15 November at the Autopolis.
