Changes in Formula Regional & F4 Middle East a bonus for NZ & Australia

With the recent announcement that both the 2027 editions of the F4 United Arab Emirates Trophy and Formula Regional Middle East Trophy will shift from their originally planned January window to later in 2027, is proving to be a bonus for the Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy series and the Australian Formula Series (F4) (AFS).

All 22 grid spots for the 2027 edition of Toyota FR Oceania are currently oversubscribed while the AFS have just announced a three round Formula 4 competition to take place at The Bend in South Australia this December 2026.

The move by both Middle East categories appears to be about logistic constraints due to the situation in the region with an ongoing difficult political situation. The consequences have resulted in the cancellation of the World Endurance Championship final round in Bahrain and the World Rally Championship finale in Saudi Arabia.

Promoted by AGI Sport and run to current FIA Formula 4 technical regulations, the AFS will have a condensed December programme with three rounds over eighteen days with an official practice day ahead of each round which in turn will host four championship races. The Series will take place at the The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia and utilise three separate layouts.

Round 1: Thur 3 to Sun 6 December – Wet Circuit (4 races)
Round 2: Mon 14 to Wed 16 December International Circuit (4 races)
Round 3: Fri 18 to Sun 20 December GT Circuit (4 races)
