Successful New Zealand Motor-racing team-owner, mentor and driver Dennis Martin has be hospitalised with pneumonia and is in a critical condition.
Martin, a multiple time NZ Formula First Champion, is in a critical condition in intensive care at Palmerston North Hospital with Pneumonia.
Martin, owner of Sabre Motorsport is responsible for starting the careers of many of our best drivers. Shane van Gisbergen, Nick Cassidy, Richie Stanaway, Mitch Evans, Simon Evans, Brendon Hartley and more have all come through Martin’s team in the early stages of their careers.
Martin, also heavily responsible for the SpeedSport ‘Star of Tomorrow’ Motorsport Scholarship, was set to run his team in this weekend’s opening round of the Manfeild Winter Series with 2016 Scholarship winner Dylan Smith. Fortunately with the help of his team, Sabre Motorsport will be racing this weekend.
Martin’s partner Cherie would like to thank his team, Pete Morgan, Jonathan Morton, Alistar White and Sheridan Bonner for their help and support in preparing and running the cars this weekend for Dennis.
Cherie also would like to thank everyone who has sent their kind wishes for Dennis and this is why anyone that has tried contacting Dennis has not received a reply.
