2024 Supercars champion Will Brown might be more eager than anyone to get back to racing this weekend, looking to flip his fortunes on a bumpy start to 2026.
The Repco Supercars Championship heads to New Zealand this weekend for the first of two consecutive weekends of racing, starting with this weekend’s ITM Taupō Super 440 on the North Island.
By his own admission, Brown’s “worst” start to a season has him 13th heading into Taupō.
The 27-year old has endured a bruising first two events of 2026, with several on-track clashes leading to just three top 10 finishes in the first seven races of the season.
By contrast, in 2024 Brown was Mr. Consistent, scoring a podium at every event on the calendar, the first driver to do so in 40 years.

The Toowoomba native appeared to finally gain his footing in the most recent race in Melbourne, taking pole position for the Sunday race and finishing second.
Still, that runner-up finish came with a sting, a driver error handing the lead to Brodie Kostecki on the penultimate lap.
With momentum seemingly back in his favour, Brown will look to return to the top step of the podium in Taupō, where he won in 2024.
Supercars returns to NZ this week at the ITM Taupō Super 440.
The popular Track to Town highlights pre-event festivities on Thursday in Taupō, where the entire 24-car Supercars field will drive from Taupō International Motorsport Park into Taupō CBD.
Fans will be able to meet the stars and see the cars of Supercars from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. NZST at the free-to-the-public event.
On-track action begins Friday with Supercars practice, followed by two 120-kilometre races on Saturday, and one 200-kilometre race on Sunday.
The driver who scores the most points across the Taupō and Christchurch events will be awarded the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy, named for beloved Kiwi driver Jason Richards who succumbed to cancer in 2011.
