Race day on the Gold Coast, surfboards up for grabs

Race day has arrived at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, as the 24-car Supercars field revs up for Race 21 of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship this afternoon.

A big Friday crowd was treated to Gold Coast’s signature sunshine Supercars held two uninterrupted 40-minute practice sessions.

Friday saw the Fords fly, with Tickford Racing duo Cam Waters and Thomas Randle leading the respective practice sessions.

Championship leader Will Brown was fifth and sixth in the day’s sessions, while his nearest title rivals Broc Feeney and Chaz Mostert were also in the top 10 in both sessions.

With no more practice on the weekend, drivers will get straight into fast laps later this morning with Boost Mobile Qualifying from 11:00 a.m. AEST.

The fastest 10 drivers will then take part in the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout from 12:35 p.m. to determine the pole sitter for this afternoon’s race.

Today’s 85-lap, 250-kilometre race will kick off at 3:15 p.m. AEST, with the famous surfboard trophies to be awarded to the top three finishers.
