The 2021 Dave McCahon Canterbury Interclub Trophy has been won by the Canterbury Car Club after the final Ashburton Car Club round of the 2021 Canterbury area Interclub series.
The Scottie’s Shingle Sprint was run on a challenging 2.9km of Le Bretons Rd gravel in the Wakanui district, east of Ashburton. 28 competitors pitted their skills on the loose surface with Blair Logan (Evo 4) covering the distance in 2minutes and .59 of a second to win the day.
Local, Wayne Muckle (Evo 10) had been leading up till the fourth run but a slight mishap demoted him to second with John Giltrap (Evo 9) coming home third.
Five club members from the Autosport club nabbed 76-points just ahead of the Ashburton Car Club on 72-points. The three Canterbury Car Club members managed 20-points and held on to win the Dave McCahon Canterbury Interclub Trophy for 2021 by 57-points.
The winners are decided by the top five place-getters for each club earning points from 20 down to 1. With a maximum of 90-points available to a club per event, each club has a mathematical chance of taking home the silverware.
Sadly, the Autosport grass Autocross was cancelled and no venue can be found to hold the event. Consequently the series was reduced to 7 rounds

Round 7: October 22nd – Ratec MotorSport – Duvauchelles Hillclimb
Round 8: November 22nd – Ashburton CC – Scottie’s Gravel Sprint – Wakanui.
