Ashburton take the laurels in the 2024 Inter-club series

As we look forward to a fresh round of Canterbury Interclub events in 2025, the results of the 2024 series and winners of the local clubs’ own competitions are as follows:

The 2024 Canterbury Interclub Series:

Round 7, the RATEC Motorsport run Little River Hillclimb, was held in glorious conditions on Sunday 20 October 2024. Nineteen competitors in a wide range of cars raced to the finish line high above Lake Forsythe. The winner, Stefan Moser-Rust, (main photo) was just two seconds off breaking the two-minute barrier whereas Tony Coakley in a classic Fiat X1/9 took a respectful 2 mins 46.59 on his fastest run. RATEC grabbed a healthy 81-points but were unable to make inroads on the Ashburton Car Club lead in the series or reach Canterbury Car Club in second place. The fourth run was curtailed when a competitor rolled on the road halfway up the hill.

Full results are on the RATEC Motorsport web page.

Adrian Harris (Canty CC) Moke – Autocross winner

The finale was Round 8. A Canterbury Car Club run Autocross on a tight freshly mown paddock south of Rangiora on Sunday 3 November 2024 which attracted 28 entries. Adrian Harris (Canty) Moke outdrove the rest of the field by more than 12-seconds. But after that it was tight. Scott Clark (Ash) WRX headed off Neil Gardner (Canty) Starlet, Murray Rushton (Ash) Starlet and Steve Pritchard (RATEC) Legacy all within a four-second cluster.

Full results are on the Canterbury Car Club Facebook page. Canterbury made the most of the points opportunity grabbing 77 but Ashburton also nabbed 70 and held out to take a 57-point win in the Interclub Trophy again in 2024.

Scott Clark in his Impreza earned the Ashburton Car Club a massive 81-points over the season ahead of John Rathgen (GR Yaris) who contributed 71-points to Canterbury Car Club’s campaign.
