Fresh off the back of his best result yet in the RCK Contractors Mitsubishi Proto car, West Auckland’s Clint Cunningham is looking for a second consecutive top ten finish at this weekend’s Joe’s Garage/Lonestar Rally Canterbury, the third round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship.

At Whangarei, Cunningham finally found the reliability he had been searching for, largely thanks to the team at Possum Bourne Motorsport, and was able to come home in a solid sixth place.

Heading to the this weekend’s event in Canterbury, Cunningham is once again looking for a trouble free run inside the top ten on only his second visit to the event.

With regular co-driver Greg Ruka unavailable for the Queen’s Birthday weekend fixture, Cunningham welcomes Thomas Thexton into the co-driver’s seat.

“After the run we had at Whangarei, I’m really looking forward to getting to Canterbury. We’ve been there once before and it’s a tricky rally, but I’d really like to get another top ten finish,” says Cunningham. “I’m really thankful to Thomas for joining the team, he’s got some good experience alongside some good drivers and I think he’ll be a great addition to the team. I can’t wait to work with him.”

The Joe’s Garage/Lonestar Rally Canterbury Rally Canterbury run on Sunday 5 July. After leaving the start at Rangiora at 7.40am, teams will cover nine special stages in the Ashley and Okuku Forests totalling 171km, before returning to the finish in Manchester St, Christchuch from 5.30pm.
