Double Toyota Racing Champion Nick Cassidy has regained the lead in the Japanese F3 Series after the latest round at the Fuji International Circuit.
A win and a second place has moved Cassidy three points ahead of team mate Kenta Yamashita after heading into the round four points behind.
Cassidy set fastest lap(1:35.849) in qualifying for race one ahead of Mitsunori Takaboshi (1:35.961) and Katsumasa Chlyo (1:36.099).
“It was a great day, from pole to a win at Fuji,” commented Cassidy. “It was a wet race where we made no mistakes and held a good lead to the end.”
It was the reverse in qualifying for the second race of the weekend with Takaboshi (1:35.209) ahead of Cassidy (1:35.265) with Yamashita third (1:35.269).
“It was a good weekend for us,” said Cassidy. “I led today’s race before being hit but managed to limp a damaged car home to P2, still leading the championship.”
After thirteen races in the series there are just four left with the penultimate round at the Twin Ring Motegi in late August (22-23 August).
