Visa Cash App Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson made it through to the third qualifying session (Q3), setting the eighth fastest time for the F1 Sprint Race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Teammate Arvid Lindblad was knocked out of Q1 setting the 17th fastest time.
“Honestly, we weren’t that strong, earlier today,” said Lawson. “We made some changes and the cooling off may have helped us. It was good.
“Q2 was probably the better lap. It’s the first time we have run the soft today and probably the same for Pierre (Gasly). It was a little bit unknown and a lot more grip than expected, so very happy.”
Max Verstappen took pole while Red Bull teammate Isack Hadjar faced a difficult session and will start ninth after having his lap time deleted in SQ3 due to exceeding track limits.
