Liam Lawson takes to the mic for the second episode of Season 3 of Red Bull’s Mind Set Win podcast. With the 2024 Formula One season underway, Liam sits down with Lisa Ramuschkat to explore his racing journey to date and discuss what representing New Zealand on the global stage really means to him.
Liam speaks honestly about the pride and pressures of representing his home country in Formula One – a rare credit that only 10 drivers can claim in the sport’s history – as well as exploring the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with waiting in the wings.
Racing has always been in Liam’s blood, receiving his first go-kart at the young age of six. Since then, Liam’s journey has taken him across the world – including competing in Formula 2, Formula 3, and most recently Japan’s Super Formula Championship.
At just 22 years old, the New Zealander is the reserve driver for Oracle Red Bull Racing and Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team (formerly Scuderia AlphaTauri). Liam fulfilled his childhood dream in 2023 by making his Formula One debut for Scuderia AlphaTauri at the Dutch Grand Prix, impressing during his five races, including earning his first points at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix.
Liam has continued his role as reserve driver for both teams for the 2024 season, as the young driver eagerly awaits an opportunity for a permanent seat.
