Liam Sceats has made the decision to sit out this weekend’s round of the INDY NXT by Firestone at the World Wide Technology Raceway in Illinois.
“Unfortunately, we’ve been managing an engine performance issue over the past few rounds, and unfortunately on an oval, where top-end speed is critical, it became much more impactful to performance,” commented Sceats.
“After discussions with the team, I’ve made the call to sit out this weekend’s Oval race at St Louis until another engine becomes available.
“This wasn’t an easy decision, but with budget considerations and our goal to fight for podiums, it makes sense to invest wisely rather than turn up knowing we won’t be truly competitive.

“I want to be competitive when I show up, and fight for the podium like I believe I can. My engineer and I both walked away feeling that, without this issue, we had it in us to be right near the top of the timesheets at the Iowa test, so I am pretty gutted that I won’t have the opportunity this weekend.”
Andretti Global’s Dennis Hauger leads INDY NXT by Firestone to World Wide Technology Raceway, looking to continue his dominance of INDYCAR’s official development series. The 22-year-old Norwegian driver has never raced on an oval and leads his teammate Lochie Hughes by 38 points heading into a pivotal championship stretch of four races in five weeks.
“I look forward to still being at the race in St Louis learning from the sidelines, supporting the team and fellow Kiwis and building relationships in the paddock,” said Sceats.
“The focus now turns to the race next weekend at Road America, Wisconsin with INDYCAR, where I’m working hard to ensure I’m back in the car with equipment worthy of running at the front.”
