The AirTouch 500 at the Bend finally gets underway today, with three practice sessions scheduled at The Bend Motorsport Park today in South Australia.
This weekend’s event kicks off Supercars’ Ryco Enduro Cup, with a 500-kilometre race scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
Eight South Australian drivers are spread amongst the 26-car, 52-driver field, with Kai Allen and Tim Slade the all-South Aussie pairing sharing a car at this weekend’s event.
Mount Gambier’s Allen and Adelaide’s Slade will share the No. 26 Penrite Ford for Grove Racing.

Sitting fifth in the championship heading into the weekend, Allen poised to punch his ticket to the Supercars Finals this weekend.
The 21-year old made a shock run to the Grand Final as a rookie last season, after starting the Finals as the 10th and lowest seed.
Practice at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia begins at 11:25 a.m. ACST, with two more 30-minute sessions from 1:45 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. today.
Boost Mobile Qualifying and the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout follow on Saturday to set the grid for Sunday’s 500-kilometre race.
The AirTouch 500 is the first event of the Ryco Enduro Cup, and precedes October’s Repco Bathurst 1000.
