Supercars star Broc Feeney has reflected on winning the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy, following this past weekend’s ITM Christchurch Super 440.
Feeney scored the most points of all Supercars drivers across the Taupō and Christchurch events, netting him one of the Championship’s most coveted awards.
The JR Trophy is named in honour of the late Jason Richards, a beloved Kiwi Supercars driver who passed away from cancer in 2011.
The trophy holds value to all drivers and teams, with Feeney noting the special meaning of the achievement to his Kiwi race engineer Martin Short, and teammate Will Brown’s engineer Andrew Edwards, who worked with JR at Brad Jones Racing.

Feeney was joined by Christchurch mayor Phil Mauger on Monday morning in Christchurch.
Mauger himself raced on the weekend in the Historic Touring Cars support races, and raved of the Championship’s first event on the South Island of New Zealand.
The ITM Christchurch Super 440 welcomed some 65,806 over the weekend, including sell outs on Saturday and Sunday as Christchurch hosted its first Supercars event.
Following two intense weekends of racing in Taupō and Christchurch, Supercars will now head back to Australia for the remainder of the 14-event season.
The next event is the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440, taking place May 22-24 at Symmons Plains Raceway.
