McLaughlin looks for advantage on the streets of Townsville

The streets of Townsville are next up for Wilson Security Racing GRM (Volvo Polestar Racing) drivers Scott McLaughlin and David Wall, a type of circuit suiting the Volvo S60 Polestar race car well.

”Our cars are normally pretty good around street circuits and we have made a lot of gains with the car that I hope can materialise here,” said McLaughlin.

The race weekend features two races of 200 kilometres each, a format Wall is looking forward to.

”The 200 kilometre races should definitely suit us. Townsville is a really nice, flowy street circuit and the team has really been working flat out to turn the cars around from Darwin. We have a few little changes coming that we will try in practice, I’m looking forward to the weekend,” said Wall.

After a tough first half of the championship, the result graph is improving for McLaughlin who has been in the top ten in three of the last five races.

”Our cars are a lot better now, even though Darwin wasn’t the best result-wise. This is a weekend where we can make a lot of gains with big points up for grabs with two 200 km races. It is very close from where I am to the top ten of the championship,” said McLaughlin.

The first race of the Townsville 400 weekend starts 16:15 local time on Saturday.
