Pither wins Super2 round in Tasmania

Kiwi driver Chris Pither has won the second round of the 2018 Dunlop Super2 Series at the Typerpower Tasmania SuperSprint. Pither set fastest time in both qualifying sessions and went on to win the second race of the weekend, his third victory in the series.

The Garry Rogers Motorsport driver led from start-to-finish, maintaining a comfortable lead ahead of Brodie Kostecki throughout the 30 laps, even as light rain fell, taking the checkered flag 5.6 seconds clear of Brodie Kostecki.

Having finished second to Paul Dumbrell in the opening race on Saturday, Pither also finished runner-up to Dumbrell in the third and final race of the weekend, enough to take the round.

With two race wins for the round, Dumbrell’s fifth placing in the second race, won by Pither, wasn’t enough to beat the Kiwi. However, Dumbrell holds onto the lead of the overall championship, 86 points ahead of Pither.

The third round of the series will take place at the Perth SuperSprint on May 4-6.
