Leitch confirms 2022 GT World Challenge Endurance campaign with Leipert Motorsport

Current Lamborghini Junior Brendon Leitch has been confirmed as one of the drivers for Leipert Motorsport’s return to the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup in 2022.

Leitch will compete in all five endurance events next season and will race for his current team Leipert in its Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO car at Monza in April, Paul Ricard in June, at the Spa 24 Hours in July, at Hockenheim in September and will complete the season at Barcelona in the first weekend of October.

Invercargill racer Leitch has been racing this season as one of the Lamborghini team’s 15 junior GT3 drivers. The 15 drivers race for the factory in championships like the International GT Open, the ADAC GT Masters, the GT World Challenge Europe and in the 25 year old Kiwi’s case, the 24 Hour Series. He’s the first driver to be confirmed for the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance programme.

The aim of the campaign is to develop select drivers from the Lamborghini Junior Programme in the series. In addition to an extensive test programme, the Dubai 24 Hour race later this year is also on the schedule to help the team and drivers prepare for the 2022 season.

Leitch has excelled so far in a short career in GT racing, winning domestically in New Zealand and impressing for Lamborghini this season in the 24H Series.

“I’m enjoying putting my skills to the test in endurance racing and although I’m still new to international GT racing,” he said. “I feel I am learning very quickly and adapting well to the strategic and physical challenge of endurance racing.

“I’m building a solid working relationship with the Leipert team too and it’s going to be great to carry on learning with them this year ahead of this much bigger campaign next season.

“To have everything for next year confirmed so early is also fantastic for me, as it would be for any racing driver. I can now just concentrate on going out and winning.”

Brendon will be backed again by Dayle ITM in his 2022 season. It will be his third full season as a Lamborghini driver, having started with the Lamborghini Young Driver programme in 2019 in the Super Trofeo Asia series.
