Kai Allen leads opening practice at 2026 Bathurst 1000

Supercars action is underway at the 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000, with Practice 1 in the books at the 2026 Great Race.

Drivers took their time getting up to speed over the 60-minute session, with only one red flag for a stranded Jarrod Hughes who ran off into the gravel trap at Hell Corner.

Mount Gambier’s Kai Allen led the way in the opening session of the weekend, followed by Chevrolet rookie Jayden Ojeda and 2017 Bathurst 1000 winner David Reynolds in third.

Drivers noted a slippery track in the first session of the weekend, and with different tyre quality and fuel loads, the results offer only a glimpse of a form guide for the weekend ahead.

Practice 2, a co-driver only session, begins at 3:45 p.m. AEDT, a second 60-minute session to conclude the first day of running at the 2026 Great Race.
