Glen Brazier and Andrew Waite (Lamborghini Huracan GT3) have won the Three-Hour South Island Endurance Series race held at Euromarque Motorsport Park in Christchurch on Saturday. They beat home the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Kane Lawson and Ronan Murphy while the Class 1 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup of Andy Childe and Tom Alexander finished in third.

In the One-Hour Class 1,2 & 3 race it was Hugh Gardiner (Porsche 991.2 GT3 MR) with a lights to flag win ahead of Jordan Michels (MARC II Mustang) and Andy Childe (Porsche 992 GT3 Cup) in third.

Michels went from zero-to-hero after heavy contact with the pit wall during Friday practice.

“It was a decent impact and the damage to the car was substantial,” commented Michels. “It’s certainly the worst I’ve felt mentally leaving a race track in my life, from the frustration with myself right through to the feeling of letting my team and sponsors down.

“P4 in qualifying was amazing considering the circumstances but P2 in the race with the fastest lap was more than we could have ever hoped or expected. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing some pretty cool things in my career but the effort from my team this weekend would be right up there with one of the best efforts I’ve witnessed. I can’t express my gratitude enough.”

Michels leads the overall standings ahead of Wei Zhou/Josh Bethune (McLaren Artura GT4) and Garry Derrick (Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup).

The second One-Hour race for Classes 4 & 5 saw Warren Black (Audi RS3 LMS TCR) on top after a damp race, with Mike Hall (VW Golf TCR) heading off Grant Askew/Cole Askew (VW Golf TCR) for an all TCR podium.

Warren Walker was the first Class 5 car to finish.

The Askews lead the overall standings for Class 4 & 5 with Zach Ming (Audi RS3 LMS TCR) in second and Warren Walker in third.
