Liam Sceats has announced his intention to compete in the 2025 INDY NXT by Firestone series. The Kiwi driver has focused on single seater racing having competed in domestic Formula Ford, finished runner up in both the 2023 Formula Regional Japanese, and the 2024 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championships, before tackling a full season of the 2024 USF Pro 2000 Championship.
“I’m excited to announce that I am now setting my sights on contesting the Indy NXT (formerly Indy Lights) championship in 2025, which serves as a direct feeder series into INDYCAR,” commented Sceats. “This new challenge represents a significant step up in every aspect, and to ensure I’m fully prepared, I’ve really knuckled down on my training and focus across the board.”

Sceats has already spent the 2024 season competing in the USF Pro 2000 Championship where he finished fifth overall, gaining valuable on and off-track experience in the US motorsport scene.
“In the short term, I am working hard to get myself over to the US to participate in the official Indy NXT tests coming up this month,” said Sceats. “It starts at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway which will be a great opportunity for me to experience the Indy NXT car and get my name out there in front of the INDYCAR and Indy NXT paddock and prove my skills.
“Nothing is confirmed yet but I’m hoping to announce some super exciting news about my next endeavour in the very near future.”
The 2025 14-race season gets underway on the streets of St Petersburg, Florida on the 2 March 2025.
