Verizon IndyCar Series leader Scott Dixon will be looking to improve as the series takes to the streets of Toronto this weekend. The Honda Indy Toronto takes place on a 1.786-mile temporary street course
that saw second overall Josef Newgarden win in 2017.
“I don’t think we really had the weekend we wanted to in Iowa after having a string of five or so podiums over the last six races,” commented Dixon. “We stayed with it as best we could, though, in the PNC Bank car and had a reasonable points day with some of the other top point contenders having issues in the race.
“So, it’s on to Toronto where we’ve had some success in the past. It’s a great city that I know we all love coming to, and I hope it’s a good show Sunday and a good performance for the No. 9 team.”
There have been seven different winners in the 11 previous Verizon IndyCar Series races in 2018: Sebastien Bourdais (Streets of St. Petersburg), Josef Newgarden (ISM Raceway, Barber Motorsports Park and Road America), Alexander Rossi (Streets of Long Beach), Will Power (INDYCAR Grand Prix and Indianapolis 500), Scott Dixon (Raceway at Belle Isle-1 and Texas Motor Speedway), Ryan Hunter-Reay (Raceway at Belle Isle-2) and James Hinchcliffe (Iowa Speedway).
Dixon’s win at Texas on June 9 gave him sole possession of third on the all-time Indy car victory list with 43 wins. He has finished on the podium in three of the last nine races at Toronto.
The 85 lap race gets underway at 3.42pm local time.
