Sharp ready for F3 round at the Red Bull Ring

Kiwi Louis Sharp and his PREMA Racing team have arrived in Spielberg with momentum, as the FIA Formula 3 Championship heads to the Red Bull Ring for Round 4 of 9.

The circuit is a place PREMA knows well. Compact, fast and unforgiving, the 4.326-kilometre layout rewards clean execution and drivers who can manage tyre life through a demanding combination of high-speed corners, heavy braking zones and significant elevation change. With three DRS zones and multiple overtaking opportunities, the venue regularly produces close, high-stakes racing.

All three PREMA drivers; James Wharton, Louis Sharp and José Garfias completed a two-day in-season test at the Red Bull Ring in May. The sessions were focused on tyre management, qualifying simulations and race preparation, and the team came away encouraged.

Sharp was particularly upbeat after Barcelona, saying the team had been “really strong” at the Red Bull Ring and would head to Spielberg with genuine confidence. Wharton, who took PREMA’s first win of the 2026 season in the Barcelona Sprint Race, echoed the sentiment.

In 2025, despite a difficult overall season for the team, the Red Bull Ring proved to be one of the venues where PREMA’s performance came back on track, a pattern the team will be keen to replicate and build on.

Qualifying takes place on Friday (15:00 local time) with a Sprint Race on Saturday (10:00 local time – 8pm NZ time) and the Feature Race on Sunday (8:40am local time – 6:40pm NZ time).
