Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood have taken the first step towards a repeat win at the AirTouch 500 at The Bend, with Kostecki taking pole position Saturday evening for tomorrow’s endurance race in South Australia.
The 2023 Supercars champion and 2024 Bathurst 1000 winner Kostecki soared to his seventh pole of the year in Saturday afternoon’s Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout.
With Kostecki taking pole, it is expected that his co-driver and South Australian Todd Hazelwood will start tomorrow’s race from P1.
Kiwi Matt Payne qualified second in the Shootout, meaning his co-driver and two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Will Davison will likely join Hazelwood on the front row.
Tickford Racing’s Cam Waters was third in the Shootout ahead of provisional pole sitter and lead Chevrolet driver Anton De Pasquale fourth.
After having not led a session all weekend, Ford has now locked out the top three spots for tomorrow’s 500-kilometre race.
The 26-car Supercars field will undertake a 20-minute warm up tomorrow morning from 10:15 a.m. ACST, before the 147-lap AirTouch 500 kicks off at 1:45 p.m.
