Penrith rookie Jayden Ojeda has put the Supercars field on notice on Friday in South Australia, as the 27-year-old topped practice at the AirTouch 500 at The Bend.
The highly-regarded Ojeda, nicknamed “Juice”, was finally awarded a full-time Supercars seat this season, and despite being the runaway rookie of the field, has yet to score a breakthrough race result in 2026.
Ojeda posted the fastest lap of Friday’s running, ahead of fellow Chevrolet driver Anton De Pasquale and Kiwi Ryan Wood.
Defending AirTouch 500 winners Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood were fourth fastest, while De Pasquale’s teammate David Reynolds and James Courtney rounded out the top five.
Championship leader Broc Feeney was just 23rd in the final practice of Friday, in what sets up an interesting Saturday at The Bend Motorsport Park.
Supercars practice at The Bend resumes at 9:50 a.m. ACST tomorrow, with a final practice session at 12:00 p.m.
Boost Mobile Qualifying at 2:45 p.m. will set the stage for the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout at 5:00 p.m. to finalise the grid for Sunday’s 500-kilometre endurance race.
The AirTouch 500 is the first event of the Ryco Enduro Cup, and precedes October’s Repco Bathurst 1000.
