Adelaide’s infamous Turn 8 has struck thrice in Friday qualifying at the VAILO Adelaide 500, with three drivers suffering heavy crashes in Repco Supercars Championship qualifying.
All drivers emerged unharmed from their wrecked cars, after Reynolds’ destroyed Camaro spectacularly came to a rest on top of the rear of Hill’s similarly-fated Camaro.
After a lengthy delay to clear debris and enact track repairs, the qualifying session was declared official, leaving championship leader Will Brown on provisional pole position amidst a largely mixed field.
The on-track action was matched with the atmosphere trackside, as fans once again flocked around the Adelaide Street Circuit for day two of the VAILO Adelaide 500
“The atmosphere has been incredible everywhere you go at the VAILO Adelaide 500, and so many fans have turned out for the exciting Supercars Qualifying session, the start of the Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Sprint, and V8 Nation to meet American custom car masters Dave Kindig and Kevin Schiele.
“We’ve seen our adored race winners across the history of the VAILO Adelaide 500 leave their mark with hand moulds, fans get to see the legends of the event at Pub in the Park, and the event trophy land at the circuit via skydivers as the 25-year celebrations continue to take place in 2024.
“The NAPA Speedway Invitational last night was incredibly popular with fans, and I expect tonight will draw crowds once again for the final instalment of their competition under lights, with a $126,000 prize purse on the line.”
“Everyone is excited for a big weekend ahead, with more action at the NAPA Speedway, Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Sprint, and the After Race Concert Series starting tomorrow with Crowded House capping off a massive day of the VAILO Adelaide 500”
