Another massive season looms at Teretonga Park

Another massive season of motor racing looms at Teretonga Park in Invercargill between October and March with several exciting weekends of motor racing scheduled for the country’s oldest motor racing circuit.

Southerners will see a range of motorsport including top class international motor racing stars, the best of New Zealand’s motorsport categories, classic racing cars, muscle cars and Super Trucks.

The season begins on Saturday 17 October with the annual round of the South Island Endurance Series, this year with the added bonus of being the final round of the 2026 South Island Endurance Racing Championship while the 3-Hour race will be the New Zealand Endurance Championship race.

The following day, Sunday 18 October, the Noel McIntyre Drainage Club Saloon Series commences with Pre 78 Classic Saloons also on the programme while a Regularity Trial will add a bit of variety to the line-up.

The first weekend of December sees a muster of the South Island’s best racing classes with OSCA Super Saloons, Historic & Vintage Racing Assn, Mazda Pro8 NZ, SS Cup, the 2K Cup Teretonga Challenge, South Island Formula Ford and Noel McIntyre Drainage Club Saloons on a massive two-day programme.

International motor racing returns over the weekend of 22-24 January when the Repco NextGen NZ Championship Ascot Park Hotel International takes place with the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy headlining the show. This will again bring some of the world’s top driving talents to the south continuing the long legacy of Teretonga Park which is the only circuit in New Zealand that remains from the days of the top Formula 1 drivers visiting our shores.

The Bridgestone GR86 Championship, TA2 NZ, Summerset GT New Zealand Championship, Nexen Tyre Mazda Racing Super Series and Pirelli Porsche are confirmed support categories at the moment.

It is the turn of the classic machinery from 19-21 February with the Ascot Park Hotel Classic SpeedFest featuring HVRA, Vintage Racing Cars, Classic Saloons, Sports & GT Cars, Racing Cars, and Noel McIntyre Drainage Club Saloons before Southern Thunder featuring NZ Super Trucks, Mainland Muscle Cars, NZ V8 Utes and plenty more turn it on over the weekend of 6/7 March.

The George Begg Festival returns to round out the season later in March.
