Kiwi Richie Stanaway has admitted the memories of winning the 2023 Repco Bathurst 1000 have come “flooding back in” as he looks to go back-to-back at the Great Race next weekend.
The 2024 edition of the Repco Bathurst 1000 is just 11 days away, with on-track action getting underway next Thursday, October 10, ahead of the 1000-kilometre race on Sunday.
“It’s always an exciting part of the year,” commented Stanaway. “It’s nice to go there having won it last year as I feel you can attack the race and see how we go without the stress of not having won.
“The more experience you get the more it helps. We are pretty disappointed still with how Sandown went so really want to turn that around.”

Stanaway spoke to media on Monday in Sydney as part of a launch event for this year’s Bathurst 1000.
The Tauranga native won last year’s race driving alongside fellow Kiwi Shane van Gisbergen, before moving over to Grove Racing in 2024.
It’s been an up and down year for Stanaway, but the 32-year-old finds confidence in having a win under his belt at the Mountain, allowing him to attack this year’s race without fear.
The Repco Sueprcars Championship heads to Bathurst next week for the iconic Repco Bathurst 1000.
Festivities in Bathurst get underway Wednesday, October 9 with the Repco Bathurst 1000 Street Party in Bathurst CBD.
On-track action begins on Thursday, with the Great Race to take place on Sunday morning from 11:30 a.m. AEDT.
