First-ever Friday Supercars race in Darwin this afternoon

The betr Darwin Triple Crown officially gets underway today, featuring the first-ever Friday Supercars race in the Northern Territory.

Supercars races on all three days of this year’s visit to the NT, starting with a 100-kilometre race from 5:00 p.m. ACST today.

Darwin showed up on Thursday to welcome Supercars to the Top End, as fans flocked to the Esplanade in the CBD for Track to Town.

All 24 Supercars drove from Hidden Valley Raceway in to the CBD to allow fans to get up close with the stars and cars of the Championship on the eve of racing in the NT.

Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Broc Feeney leads the way into this weekend. The 23-year old holds a 90-point margin in the standings over Kiwi Matt Payne.

Feeney has dominated at Hidden Valley Raceway, having won six of the last seven races at the Darwin venue, including five on the trot.

Should Feeney win today’s race, his six straight wins in Darwin it will be the second-longest win streak ever at the same Supercars venue.

Today’s race also marks the first-ever Supercars race in the NT for newcomers Toyota, who bring five GR Supras to the event.

Toyota had the hot hand at last month’s event in Tasmania, where 2025 Supercars champion Chaz Mostert and popular Kiwi Andre Heimgartner each took a race win for the Japanese brand.

They became the seventh and eighth different drivers to win a race in 2026, with just 16 races across five events on the board so far.

Mostert also becomes the 22nd driver in Supercars history to surpass 400 race starts this weekend; the lanky Queenslander is expected to make start #400 in tomorrow’s 200-kilometre race.

Supercars hits the track in Darwin for the first time at 10:05 a.m. ACST this morning for first practice.

Boost Mobile Qualifying follows at 1:05 p.m., to set the grid for today’s 100-kilometre race from 5:00 p.m. local time Friday.

200-kilometre races on Saturday (3:20 p.m.) and Sunday (2:40 p.m.) will round out the betr Darwin Triple Crown.

The driver who scores the most points across this weekend will be awarded the Darwin Triple Crown.
