SVG ready for COTA this weekend

Shane van Gisbergen is on the quest for his first career victory at the left-and-right-turning venue of Circuit of The Americas for a Texas-style road-course bout on Sunday (3:30 p.m. ET). Van Gisbergen has started in three NASCAR series and four V8 Supercars races at the 2.30-mile circuit.

The Partnership:
Earlier this week Trackhouse Racing announced that SafetyCulture will extend its partnership with the team through the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, continuing its role as Trackhouse Racing’s Official Workplace Operations Partner. The global workplace operations platform gives Trackhouse Racing the knowledge, tools and confidence to work safely, meet higher standards and improve every day on and off the track. SafetyCulture will make its on-track debut with van Gisbergen March 1 at COTA.

Double Duty:
In addition to the Cup event, SafetyCulture will also be the primary sponsor for van Gisbergen and the No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Feb. 28 in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race.

SafetyCulture in Victory Lane:
In 2025, van Gisbergen piloted the SafetyCulture Chevrolet to victory in the inaugural Cup Series race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit in Mexico City. He led 60 of 100 laps and won by 16.5 seconds, the largest margin of victory in the Cup Series since Texas in November 2009. It was van Gisbergen’s first of five victories during his rookie season.

Road Course Stats:
Van Gisbergen has racked up dominate road course stats in the Cup Series. In 12 road and street course starts, van Gisbergen has claimed six victories, earned four pole positions and led 341 laps. With his Somona Raceway victory in 2025, he became the first driver since Jeff Gordon to win three consecutive road course Cup races from the pole. Van Gisbergen’s win at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International made him the fastest driver to five Cup Series wins since Dan Gurney in 1968.

Atlanta Results:

Last weekend at EchoPark Speedway, van Gisbergen overcame two midrace spins, to claim a sixth-place finish at the 1.54-mile track, his best finish in 40 oval starts in the Cup Series.

“It’s always promising,” said van Gisbergen. “These oval races, we are making big gains, and we weren’t really in position very often to score stage points last year. Now we are able to do that in Daytona and Atlanta and it’s very promising. These road courses, we just go and have fun. They are like a holiday for us. We just go and enjoy ourselves and hopefully come away with a lot of points and a great result.”

A Number That Means So Much:
This season, van Gisbergen will carry the No. 97 for his second full-time Cup Series season. The No. 97 has many special meanings to van Gisbergen. His father, Robert van Gisbergen, drove the same number during his racing career. In 2013, van Gisbergen first debuted the No. 97 in Australian Supercars where he created a legacy for the number with 80 wins, 3 Championships, 48 pole positions and 152 podium finishes. In 2024, van Gisbergen was honored with the special number for his NASCAR Xfinity Series Rookie campaign. In the No. 97 entry, he claimed three victories and three pole positions.
