Shane van Gisbergen led Trackhouse Racing with a ninth-place finish in the South Point 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Teammates Ross Chastain placed 30th, and Connor Zilisch finished 35th.
“Really good day for the 97 team,” commented SVG. “My Red Bull Chevrolet was really solid, had good long run speed and fun to drive.
“The pit crew did a great job on pit road, just a well executed day from the entire team. We needed that result to get us pointed back in the right direction.”
Van Gisbergen started 25th for the 400-mile race on Sunday afternoon. He steadily worked his way forward before pitting for service on lap 35. Having cycled to 18th, SVG was able to battle to 15th before the first stage ended.
At the stage break, the team serviced the tight handling Red Bull Chevrolet and van Gisbergen started the second stage, 12th. He ran inside the top-10 the entire time before pitting during the green flag cycle on lap 125.
He then cycled back into the field and finished the stage, 13th. To start the final stage, van Gisbergen lined up 12th and early in the run struggled with the balance of the Red Bull Chevrolet as the tires began to fade. The No. 97 team made the last scheduled pit stop and van Gisbergen was able to climb his way back into the top 10 and secured a ninth-place finish in the final rundown.
The NASCAR Cup Series will return to action in the Bank of America 400, Sunday 11 October 2026 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
