Supercars goes street racing today in Far North Queensland, as the NTI Townsville 500 gets underway.
The Repco Supercars Championship has arrived for its 18th year of V8 racing in Townsville, with three races across three huge days of motorsport and entertainment.
Townsville has again welcomed Supercars with open arms, with Wednesday’s NTI Transporter Parade followed up by Thursday’s Palmer Street Party and Track to Town.
All 26 Supercars – the largest grid seen in Townsville since 2018 – drove from the Reid Park Street Circuit into Palmer Street last night, where fans met all the stars and cars of Supercars.
Walkinshaw TWG Racing’s Ryan Wood heads into this weekend as Toyota’s top-ranked driver in the standings.
The 22-year old Kiwi has one win under his belt in 2026, and is rapidly becoming a star in his own right alongside teammate and reigning Supercars champion Chaz Mostert.
Team 18’s Anton De Pasquale comes to Townsville as the most recent Supercars winner, taking victory on Sunday at the Darwin Triple Crown last month.
The Melbourne-native won on the streets of Townsville in 2023 for Ford, and after a podium for Chevrolet in 2025 looks poised to run at the front again this weekend.
On-track Supercars action in Townsville begins with practice at 10:35 a.m. AEST on July 10, with a 100-kilometre race at 4:15 p.m.
Following today’s race, the action continues with Summernats Goes Troppo inside the circuit, where NQ’s best tyre shredders will compete for a berth in the iconic Summernats Grand Final in Canberra.
