The Repco Supercars Championship has officially arrived in Townsville, with over a dozen transporters convoying into North Queensland’s largest city today as festivities for the 2026 NTI Townsville 500 officially get underway.
Carrying over $25 million worth of Supercars and equipment, the transporter convoy traversed around iconic Castle Hill and past throngs of fans at Central Park en route to Reid Park street circuit, where they will park up for this weekend’s event.
Supercars rookie Rylan Gray and Toyota driver Ryan Wood caught up with fans in Central Park at the parade as excitement for the event continues to ramp up.
Hunter Valley 19-year-old Gray is the youngest driver among the youngest grid in Supercars history, while 22-year-old Wood, from Wellington, NZ, has emerged as the lead Toyota driver in the brand’s first season in the Championship.

Both drivers will get behind the wheel tomorrow as Track to Town returns on Thursday, where all 26 Supercars will drive from the circuit into Palmer Street in the CBD, with an all-driver signing session to follow at Tiny Mountain Brewer from 4:30 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to line the streets and head to Palmer Street for the free event, where they can get up close with all the stars and cars of the Repco Supercars Championship before they hit the track on Friday for a 100km race.
The action will be just as hot off the track as it is on, with Summernats Goes Troppo returning to the event on Friday night, followed by Professional Bull Riders Australia hitting the dirt following Saturday’s race.
Street Machine Tough Car Shows, an expanded ADF display within the precinct, and a musical performance by country artist Tori Darke join the program to make this year’s Townsville 500 a can’t-miss event for fans and families from all over.
On-track Supercars action in Townsville begins with practice at 10:35 a.m. AEST on July 10, with one Supercars race on each of the three days of the event.
The NTI Townsville 500 will take place over three days from July 10-12, 2026. Tickets for general admission, grandstands, and corporate hospitality are now on sale through Supercars.com.
