Supercars championship leaders Will Brown and Broc Feeney may be off to a running start in the 2024 championship, but the two Queenslanders have no intention of slowing down at this weekend’s NTI Townsville 500.
Brown is off to a historic start at Triple Eight, the Toowoomban having been on the podium in 11 of his first 12 races with the Red Bull team, and currently leads the championship by 108 points over 21-year old Feeney.
Gold Coaster Feeney has more than held his own, however, scoring 5 wins this year alone, including a weekend sweep in Darwin last time out.
The duo’s Triple Eight Race Engineering squad has dominated the streets of Townsville over the years. Since Supercars’ first visit in 2009, Triple Eight cars have won 22 of 38 races ever contested.
However, 2023 was just the third event in which Triple Eight did not win a single race across the weekend.
Brown – who won in Townsville for Erebus Motorsport last year – and Feeney will be out to right the record this weekend as Supercars hits the halfway point of its 2024 season.
Celebrating the 15th anniversary of Supercars inaugural visit to North Queensland, the championship will host five days of entertainment and action in Townsville this week, culminating in two 250-kilometre races at the Reid Park street circuit across Saturday and Sunday.
Numerous off-track attractions will also be on site, with dodgem cars, helicopter tours, ferris wheel, new-for-2024 Torque Alley car show, and more set to entertain fans of all ages throughout the weekend.
Saturday night will see Tones & I, G Flip, and Cyril light up the stage and a drone show light up the night sky as part of Townsville’s largest annual sporting event soars to new heights in 2024.
General admission, corporate hospitality and grandstand tickets for the 2024 NTI Townsville 500 running 5-7 July are available through Supercars.com.
