Nathan Pilcher, formerly of Winton and now based in Dunedin, heads to Round 4 of the 2015/2016 BNT NZ Touring Car Series at Mike Pero Motorsport Park at Ruapuna near Christchurch this weekend with a degree of confidence after the opening rounds of the series.

Pilcher missed the opening round of this year’s series after finishing fourth in the TL Class of the NZV8 Touring Car Championship last season. However he made it to the startline of the second and third rounds in the North Island and was pleased with his results. At Pukekohe in early November he was just 3 points off the podium while at Hampton Downs his results suffered only due to a diff failure. Repairs have been made and with other work completed on the Magnum Compliance Services Commodore Pilcher expects good speed and handling from the car for the upcoming rounds.

“The car is going really good, thanks to help from Protech Engines and Central Performance Ltd,” said Pilcher as he prepared to travel north this week. “We seem to have more pace this season with improvements to our car set up and also the engine.” With the next two rounds on subsequent weekends at Ruapuna and Teretonga in Invercargill Pilcher is also hoping that local knowledge, especially at Teretonga, is going to come in handy. “Last year the South Island rounds were a couple of hard ones for us with issues holding us back at both, but we certainly hope to make amends this year.”

Support for the Pilcher Racing Team comes from Magnum Compliance Services, VINZ, Fuchs Lubricants NZ, Protech Engines and Central Performance while the team continues to seek support to ensure they have the best possible chance to post some good results. “Sufficient quantities of tyres and brake parts are the resources we lack due to our budget at the moment,” say’s Pilcher. “We hope to contest all remaining rounds of the championship after the South Island leg is complete but we will have to see how the budget goes!”
