Rapid Randle eyeing first career win this weekend in Tasmania

With three top fives in the last four races, Tickford Racing’s Thomas Randle is quickly closing in on his maiden Supercars race win, with his next opportunity coming this weekend at the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint.

The 28-year old from Melbourne is now in his third full-time season in Supercars, driving the No. 55 Castrol Ford Mustang, and had his best outing of 2024 last time out at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Randle qualified second and finished third in the Saturday race in Sydney for his first podium of the season, before bouncing back from a mistake in qualifying and recovering from 17th to 10th on Sunday.

The Ford driver has had a roller coaster season to date but now sits seventh in the championship heading into this weekend.

It was 12 months ago this week that Randle enjoyed a breakout weekend at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia, claiming his first pole and scoring the first three podiums of his career.

With an eye on finally standing on the top step, Randle noted that braking will be the key to performance at Symmons Plains Raceway.

On-track action begins Friday, with Races 17 and 18 of the 2024 season to be held on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Toowomba’s Will Brown of Triple Eight Race Engineering heads into Tasmania as the championship leader, but with just a 105-point lead over Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Chaz Mostert.
