Shane van Gisbergen will make his second start at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway on Sunday evening, competing in the Cracker Barrel 400 NASCAR Cup Series race. He scored a 25th-place finish last year on the 1.33-mile track.
“I’ve never really driven on concrete before and the surface changes so much,” commented SVG. “The surface is so dynamic. Then, I know Ross won at Nashville a couple of years ago, but concrete tracks have sort of been a downfall for Trackhouse as a team. So just working on that together and seeing where we can improve is important as we go to those types of tracks.
“Everybody loves going to Nashville. We have Tootsies on the car; it’s my first time in a Tootsies car. It looks awesome! We will be there (Tootsies) Saturday night, to go say hello to everyone. Looking forward to representing Tootsies at Nashville, it’s such a fun racetrack.”
The Kiwi driver will sport a special Tootsies paint scheme on the No. 97 Chevrolet at Nashville. Tootsies Orchid Lounge, located on lower Broadway in downtown Nashville, is known for its iconic purple exterior and nonstop live music. The legendary venue has welcomed rising stars and country music legends just steps from the Ryman Auditorium. Since opening in 1960, Tootsie’s has become a Nashville hot spot.
Point Standings: Van Gisbergen enters this weekend at Nashville 14th in the driver standings, 13-points above 16th-place and the final spot in The Chase.
