Twelfth place at the 2026 Belgium Grand Prix was as good as it was going to be for Liam Lawson while his Visa Cash App Racing Bulls teammate Arvid Lindblad came home ninth and in the points. The difference was one VCARB car had upgrades for the weekend at the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps and the other will get these at the next outing in Hungary.
“It’s frustrating but honestly after qualy yesterday, today I knew we were as quick as we were ever going to be,” commented Lawson.
“We had a good start but were fighting a losing battle throughout the race.
“It’s positive that at least obviously one car is very quick so hopefully that translates to us next week. We’ll find out, obviously it is a very different track, Budapest (Hungary) but definitely excited to get out of here and over to there.”
The decision for which car would get the upgrade package went back to the British Grand Prix and whoever was quickest in qualifying which went in Lindblad’s favour.
Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli won the Belgium Grand Prix from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc with Max Verstappen (Red Bull) third.
Lawson sits in tenth in the Drivers’ Standings, Lindblad in 11th, while VCARB are fifth equal with Alpine on 61-points in the Teams’ Standings.
