Leitch and Miles back in Fanatec GT World Challenge action at Queensland Raceway this weekend

Kiwi drivers Brendon Leitch and Tim Miles (Dayle ITM Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2) are back in action as the third round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS gets underway at the Queensland Raceway in Ipswich, Queensland.  It’s tight at the top with the pairing sitting third overall just 16-points off the leaders, Liam Talbot and recent Supercars race winner, Chaz Mostert, (Arise Racing GT Ferrari 296 GT3) who are seven-points ahead of Brad Schumacher and current Repco Supercars Championship leader Will Brown (MPC Audi R8) in second.

“Looking forward to it,” commented Leitch.  “It’s a fantastic facility.  We tested here two weeks ago and we are very happy with the progress made and our setup for the weekend.

With a lot of track experience throughout the field, this doesn’t necessarily faze the Dayle ITM team.

“It’s hard to know if this type of circuit will suit any particular car or driver.  As it is really short, it is not necessarily an advantage to anyone,” said Leitch.  The key to being fast is to make no mistakes and be precise as the margins are tight.  It is going to be tricky for everyone.”

It’s been two months since the last round at The Bend in South Australia where the pairing continued to collect points with a fifth and fourth placings.

“I’ve been driver-coaching since the last round as well as taking part in the 24 Hours of Spa with Earl Bamber Motorsport.  Unfortunately, we were involved in a crash early in the race so didn’t make it through to the end.

“Now, the season is starting to ramp up so looing forward to getting back on the track.  I think we are in a good spot heading into the round.”

The third round is part of the Shannons SpeedSeries with practice taking place on Thursday and Friday followed by two qualifying sessions on Saturday morning.  The first of two one-hour races takes place on Saturday afternoon with the second on Sunday.
