MotorSport New Zealand’s Board has appointed Shayne Harris as the sport’s Chief Steward. The vacancy was created following the resignation of Wade Paterson after 12 years in the role.
Harris, a former President of MotorSport New Zealand and former Chief Clerk of the Course, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the important role. Coupled with being a very experienced Clerk of the Course, Event Director, and Steward, Harris is uniquely placed to advance the development of the Stewards department.
Outside of his Steward role, Harris also holds a Gold Race Clerk of the Course licence. In 2007 Harris was the recipient of a Distinguished Service Award and was made a President D’Honneur in 2016 following his tenure as President from 2010-2016.
I am delighted to be appointed into the role of Chief Steward,” said Harris.
“We have an amazing group of volunteers who make up the Stewarding team and I am excited to start working with them in what I consider to be an extremely important role within motorsport.”
