Gilmour ready to tackle Scottish Extreme E round this weekend

McLaren’s Emma Gilmour and Tanner Foust are currently in Scotland for two rounds of the Extreme E Series in Glenmuckloch for the Hydro X Prix, as the electric racing championship makes its return to the UK. The series’ upcoming Scottish event will take place in the former opencast Glenmuckloch mine in Dumfries and Galloway on 13-14 May.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing Tanner and the team again in Scotland and getting back in the car,” commented Gilmour. “Hopefully we can build on what we learned in Saudi Arabia at the start of the season and make it into the Grand Final.

“We learnt a lot there and we hope to be as competitive as we can straight out of the box. The race site looks amazing, it’s pretty special to be racing up in Scotland. I’m excited to get racing, and hopefully we have a successful weekend.”

Racing at the restored former opencast coal mine for the Hydro X Prix will provide a poignant backdrop for Extreme E, which uses its platform to raise awareness of climate change and global solutions, with the mine about to undergo the next phase of its major transformation into a Pumped Storage Hydropower (PSH) plant and wind farm.

Ten teams will compete in two rounds this weekend on a mixture of grass and gravel over a 2.67km course.
