Cam Waters has blitzed the field in the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout, to claim pole position in front of three other Fords for this afternoon’s opening race of the NTI Townsville 500.
After provisional qualifying this morning saw the top 10 cars separated by less than two tenths of a second, Waters put a massive three tenths on the field in the Shootout to claim his fourth pole of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship season.
Waters’ close friend and rival Chaz Mostert will start second, with Waters’ Tickford Racing teammate Thomas Randle third.
Two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Will Davison will start fourth in an all-Ford top four, while Erebus Motorsport’s Jack Le Brocq will be the lead Chevrolet Camaro in fifth.
Championship leader Will Brown will start from 13th, his worst starting position of 2024, while Red Bull teammate and 2nd in the championship Broc Feeney will start eighth.
Today’s 88-lap, 250-kilometre race on the streets of Townsville starts at 2:40 p.m.AEST.
