Tickford Racing’s Cam Waters has continued his strong form by leading the first Supercars practice session of the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 in Melbourne.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the beloved Sandown enduro and race which Waters won in 2017 with Richie Stanaway for his first Supercars victory.

Waters, from Mildura, is joined for this year’s endurance races by James Moffat, son of six-time Sandown winner Allan Moffat.
Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Lee Holdsworth posted the second fastest lap of the 30-minute session, as he returns to co-driver alongside Chaz Mostert, the pair having won the 2021 Bathurst 1000 together.
Team 18 drivers David Reynolds and Mark Winterbottom were third and fifth in the session, with Waters’ teammate Thomas Randle in fourth.
There are two more practice sessions for Supercars on Friday, at 12:45 p.m. AEST and 3:40 p.m.
