Kostecki flies to Friday fast time in Ipswich

Brodie Kostecki has thrown down the gauntlet on Friday at the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440, topping practice at Queensland Raceway.

The 2023 Supercars champion was two tenths clear of second-fastest Broc Feeney in practice, sending an ominous sign to the remainder of the 27-car field for the weekend ahead.

Reigning Supercars champion Chaz Mostert was third was fastest, with championship leader Matt Payne fourth on the first day of action in Ipswich.

Toowoomba’s Will Brown debuted a new Ford Mustang today following a slump in form over the first half of the season, a debut which did not go to plan.

Brown sat out the majority of the day’s second practice, citing an issue with his gearbox and electing to pit rather than risk further damage, and finished the day 27th out of 27 cars.

On-track action resumes Saturday with Boost Mobile Qualifying at 10:00 a.m. AEST, which will set the grid for Saturday’s two 120-kilometre races.

Race 26 of the 2026 Supercars season then begins at 12:45 p.m., with a second 39-lap race to follow at 4:15 p.m.
