Shane van Gisbergen has finished 20th in this week’s NASCAR Cup Series exhibition race at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. Having struggled in the early part of the race SVG took to the track with wet weather tires and continued to drive his way up the field from 15th. He entered the top 10 on lap 113 and ultimately took the lead on lap 140. Van Gisbergen led 15 laps before getting spun battling for second place.
“It was a good bit of fun,” said van Gisbergen. “There were moments of brilliance and moments that weren’t. It was cool to get to the front. We were just trying to search for the grip.
“The wet weather conditions were very different than what I’ve raced in Supercars, just with the way the corners are and the way the rubber lays down. But then it started to come back up again and dry up. It was pretty wild. But all-in-all, happy with our run and it’s a good way to start the season for this No. 97 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet team.”
The Trackhouse Racing Chevrolets will officially kick off the 2026 NASCAR season Sunday, Feb. 15th for the 68th running of the DAYTONA 500.
