Mildura’s Cam Waters has held off Brodie Kostecki in a nailbiter on Friday at the NTI Townsville 500, leading the 2023 champion home by 0.2 of a second.
It is Waters’ second straight Friday win, having taken the Friday win also in Darwin last month.
Matt Payne rounded out the podium for Grove Racing, and has now taken an 8-point lead in the drivers’ championship over Broc Feeney.
23-year old Feeney finished 10th after qualifying just 16th for today’s race, his teammate Will Brown impressively went from 19th to 7th in today’s 35-lap sprint.

Payne’s teammate Kai Allen and Toyota’s Chaz Mostert rounded out the top five in the first of three races this weekend in Townsville.
Supercars action resumes on the streets of Reid Park from 11:25 a.m. AEST tomorrow with Boost Mobile Qualifying.
Saturday’s 200-kilometre race begins at 3:05 p.m., double the length of today’s 100-kilometre race.
