Waters’ aim to keep Monster momentum flowing in Townsville – racing starts tomorrow

Fresh off his first win of 2026, Ford star Cam Waters is keen to let the good times roll as Supercars returns to North Queensland this weekend. Racing begins tomorrow at the NTI Townsville 500, a venue where Waters has won three times previously.

The Milduran took his first race win of 2026 and the round win at the most recent round in Darwin last month, earning the 31-year old the Darwin Triple Crown.

Now third in the drivers’ championship and with the monkey off his back, Waters can move closer to clinching a Supercars Finals berth with another strong showing on the streets of Townsville.

Waters will have his first drive of his Ford Mustang this weekend later today, as the 26-car field drives into Palmer Street in Townsville CBD, with an all-driver signing session to follow at Tiny Mountain Brewer from 4:30 p.m. AEST.

On-track Supercars action in Townsville begins with practice at 10:35 a.m. AEST on July 10, with one Supercars race on each of the three days of the event.

The action will be just as hot off the track as it is on, with Summernats Goes Troppo returning to the event on Friday night, followed by Professional Bull Riders Australia hitting the dirt following Saturday’s race.

Street Machine Tough Car Shows, an expanded ADF display within the precinct, and a musical performance by country artist Tori Darke join the program to make this year’s Townsville 500 a can’t-miss event for fans and families from all over.

The NTI Townsville 500 will take place over three days from July 10-12, 2026. Tickets for general admission, grandstands, and corporate hospitality are now on sale through Supercars.com.
