South African DTM driver and endurance racing specialist Kelvin van der Linde has clocked the quickest time (2:03.956s) in Friday’s inaugural night practice session at the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour.
It ended a dominant day for the Audi entries into this weekend’s 12 Hour Race. Audi drivers topped all four practice sessions of the opening day and will be looking to convert that form into qualifying speed tomorrow.
Van der Linde’s Audi finished 0.33 ahead of defending Bathurst 1000 Champion Chaz Mostert’s lap time this evening.
One of the event favourites, the Craft Bamboo entry from Hong Kong, was the quickest Mercedes in third, while 2020 Champion Jules Gounon was fourth quickest in the final practice of the day.
Sunday’s race will begin in the dark at 5:15am AEST. SKY Sports NZ will show action on Saturday and Sunday live, as per the Australian broadcast times, +2 hours.
