Red Bull’s Broc Feeney has made a Sunday statement in Perth, taking Boost Mobile Pole for today’s race at the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440.
Yesterday’s race winner Feeney scored provisional pole in group qualifying this morning, and backed it up with a sizzling lap of 53.6477 in the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout to take pole.
The 23-year old from the Gold Coast narrowly beat out Tickford’s Cam Waters by 0.055 of a second, with the 31-year old from Mildura set to line up on the front row for today’s race.
Championship leader Matt Payne will start third with his Kiwi compatriot Ryan Wood fourth, while Perth’s Brodie Kostecki and Chevrolet spearhead Anton De Pasquale will make up Row 3.
Feeney’s pole comes as Ford teammate Will Brown and sophomore star Kai Allen both failed to advance from the first round of qualifying.
Allen suffered a power steering failure which put him out of Q1 in 23rd, while Brown simply struggled for outright pace, qualifying 19th for this afternoon’s race.
The final race of the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440, an 80-lap, 200-kilometre race, begins at 3:20 p.m. AWST, 5:20 p.m. AEST.
