Boost Mobile Qualifying has kicked off Saturday Supercars action at the ITM Taupō Super 440, with Brodie Kostecki and Ryan Wood earning the Boost Mobile Pole positions for today’s two races in Taupō.
Championship leader Kostecki has been quick all weekend and will be joined on the front row in Race 8 by Triple Eight’s Broc Feeney, both drivers searching for their first win across the ditch.
That race, 37 laps in length, will begin at 12:20 p.m. NZST. But it was Wellington native Wood who snared pole for today’s second race, his fourth career pole and notably the first pole for Toyota in Supercars competition.

Toyota joined the grid this year with five GR Supras on the grid between Wood’s Walkinshaw TWG Racing and Brad Jones Racing.
The 22-year old will be looking for a hugely popular home win in today’s second race, which begins at 3:30 p.m.
With heavy rain and wind predicted to arrive on Sunday as Cyclone Vaianu makes landfall, Supercars moved to change the event schedule to ensure maximum racing is held today.
Today’s second race – originally scheduled for 37 laps – has been extended to 60 laps, 200 kilometres.
Sunday’s race has in turn been shortened from 60 to 37 laps, and rescheduled for 9:45 a.m. NZST.
A full statement on the event schedule changes can be found at Supercars.com.
The driver who scores the most points across this weekend’s event in Taupō and next weekend in Christchurch will be awarded the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy, named for beloved Kiwi driver Jason Richards who succumbed to cancer in 2011.
